What a weekend ahead!

It's a long weekend this weekend, so we should be sleeping in, relaxing, or going away camping or something.  But no, what are we doing?  Mookah is everywhere this weekend!  As we speak (or I write and you read) Nicole is on a road trip to Canberra with lucky Phil for the 2 day handmade market at Canberra.  Actually, they're probably just about at Gundagai, ready to head to our usual destination, the Gundagai RSL for a drink and dinner!

While Nicole is gallavanting interstate, I will be at the Inverloch market on Saturday amongst the hordes enjoying the Jazz Festival, and on Sunday I will be at Foster Market enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of a country market. 

So who's going to be looking after the Mookah Studio/Shop I hear you ask?  Well, we've had to call in the big guns to help out.  Mum, otherwise known as Marg, Mrs Griffo, or Nan Nan will be looking after the shop, while us girls are out and about being market gypsies.  Thanks Mum.

So if we don't see you somewhere this weekend, have a great long weekend, stay safe on the roads, and have fun!

Our next big event......

Things have been rather hectic around here of late, and it seems like forever ago that

 we had a big market or event in Melbourne.  I know there is a few of you out there that are waiting for us to be back in the big smoke to come and try some skirts on, so here it is.

We will be once again displaying our wares at Magnolia Square at St Kilda Town Hall from Friday the 11th to Sunday the 13th of November.  Click here for the full details.

Before all that excitement though, we've got our new shop to open this coming Friday (fingers crossed) followed by our lovely local Inverloch market this Saturday, and Foster market on Sunday.  Our sleepy little coastal town is about to be taken over again for the summer.....

Country markets......

While most of our time is spent travelling up and down the highway to do markets in the big smoke (Melbourne), it's always nice to do a local market. Apart from the obvious difference that we don't have to do all that travel, country markets are just so laid back, and cruisey.  Sunday was our last market at Foster for the season, and I took a few pics to share with you.

If there is any chance of drizzle or showers in the forcast, you can pretty much guarantee that you're going to get a little wet at Foster.  The dark clouds seem to just hover around those hills.  The sky and the wet pavement tell the story really, doesn't it?

Mookah Zip Purses

This little girl was having a ball chasing the bubbles and trying to jump on them.  As a big kid myself I was dying to join in the fun.

Carol and Mark from Itchybird made the big trek down from Mornington to sell their jewellery and cards.

What country market is complete without all the yummy home made jams and spreads?

It wasn't me that took that picture of the hen house, it was that other Mookah chick that lives on 4 acres and would really like her own little hen house and fresh eggs.  Or maybe she really just wants somewhere to escape to from time to time?

We all spent the day dodging those little bubbles......I'm guessing someone had a really good day selling bubble guns.  Thanks to all those that braved the elements and came out to farewell the Foster market for another season with a big bang!

Australia Day Weekend Markets......

Australia Day weekend a long weekend? Not for us Mookah chickies, we had a full weekend with a market at Inverloch on Saturday, followed by Foster on Sunday. It was a huge weekend with all the tourists in South Gippy looking for something to spend their tourist dollars on.





The teepee created much interest at Foster, with a few custom orders coming our way. We talked a few of our fellow Melbourne stall holders into making the trek to Foster for the day, including Sophie from Ellani Petite, with her georgous range of hair clips, hairbands etc....

Jacquie and Kim with their range of screen printed maternity tops from Bumblebee Tee's and Jacquie's range of lovely birdies, crayon rolls, kid's aprons, and softies from SewTwee.




Let's not forget Sharon from the gatha with her range of funky shower caps. Now come on, we've all got one, but now they can almost be a fashion accessory, they look so good! You can find Sharon regularly at Inverloch and Foster markets.

Now Brenda from Doki Doki (pictured below) specialises in single colour print screen printed t-shirts for kids, ladies and men. She comes from Yinnar but we try not to hold that against her, and if she looks a little engrossed in her book from time to time, well, that's because she is!

Last but not least, is Carol and Mark with their range of necklaces, pendants and brooches with modern, cute designs that have motivational mantras on the back. I bought myself a little brooch but I'll have to share that with you another time.

Yay for the local markets! It was nice not to have to drive to Melbourne town for a market for a change. This weekend was even better though...no markets at all.

A Little Self Indulgence....

As some of you would be aware, there has been very little room in my life for self indulgence of late, but recently I found something that I 'just had to have'. I was down at the Foster market recently and a lady came into our stand wearing a beautiful wooden tree pendant necklace that I told her I just had to have!

I know, you're thinking, 'but Leisa isn't even much of a jewellry gal', and of course you'd be right, but I'm finding that I'm being drawn to laser cut pendants and brooches and stuff. I think I must be getting old. Anyway, I just had to share my experience because apart from the beautiful necklace I now own, look at this amazing packaging that it came in.


Yes it was an 'Elk' necklace, so perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised.

And Tadaaa! Here it is. What do you think?

When I wore this necklace I had many comments about it, and 2 of those were from men. Mmm, apparently I'm not the only one who has good taste! Perhaps I will wear mine to the Foster market that is on again this Sunday.
